Govt. resolute on creating equal job opportunities for women

Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Masumeh Ebtekar made the remarks in a meeting on Saturday in Urmia, adding that women currently occupy 40 percent of governmental positions. She went on to add, however, that Iranian women have a far smaller share of management positions compared to their population. Presently, women comprise 60 percent of the country’s university students and 50 percent of university graduates. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate among women is two times more than men. According to Ebtekar, Rouhani’s administration has plans to allocate at least 30 percent of management positions to women. IFLA president arrives in Tehran to mark NLI’s 80th anniversary

The President of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Gloria Pérez-Salmerón arrived in Tehran on Saturday to attend the ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of the opening of the National Library of Iran. She is the special guest of honor attending the celebration scheduled to be held on Monday in Tehran. Also some senior Iranian officials and foreign ambassadors are also slated to take part at the event. French amb. to Tehran hails Iranian art

“The Iranian art has reached an international standard,” said Francois Senemaud, French Ambassador to Tehran, who was visiting Saba Art and Cultural Institute on the last day of the 10th Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts on Friday. The tenth edition of the festival kicked off on January 23rd, showcasing 91 artworks, of which 33 works are by female artists and 58 works by male artists. ۳۶th FIFF reveals intl. competition lineup

The 36th edition of Fajr International Film Festival will screen 15 features and 15 short films in Cinema Salvation (International Competition) section. Three films in each category are Iranian productions. So far films from countries such as Kazakhstan, Turkey, Italy, China, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Afghanistan, South Korea, UK, Germany, Egypt, France, Iraq, Palestine, Taiwan, India, Georgia, Russia and Lebanon have made it into the shortlist of Cinema Salvation section. Wisconsin Iranian Filmfest. to showcase 14 films

The Wisconsin Film Festival has been set up by UW-Madison graduate student Hamidreza Nassiri to create a cultural dialogue through works of art, and in its second edition, it will showcase the best films of Iranian cinema. Iranian short film awarded in Irvine Intl. Festival

Also at the same category which Iranian short film competed, the ‘Knife Skills by Thomas Lennon won the 'Honorable Mention.'  Jafari’s documentary has already been featured in two other festivals in the United States, namely Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival and New Orleans Film Festival, and it was awarded the Best Documentary Short award in the 2017 New Orleans Film Festival in the US state of Louisiana Orleans. The 25-minute documentary features a woman in southern Iranian city of Ramhormoz who makes a living out of breaking up rocks. French ATR delegation lands in Tehran to determine cause of plane crash

Three members of French government’s Committee on Investigating Incidents and four members from the factory producing the plane arrived in Tehran late on Tuesday. According to international standards, the country designing and manufacturing a plane can send a representative to participate in investigating the cause of a plane crash, CAO said. According to the Civil Aviation Organization, the airplane's engine has been produced in Canada, which has voiced readiness to send counselors from the factory to join the investigation process. An ATR-72 plane carrying 59 passengers and six crew members operated by Aseman Airlines was flying to southwestern city of Yasouj on Sunday when it went down near the town of Samirom in Isfahan province.  ...
